Parish Life
Cluster Leader: Tommy Long 925-9105
Parish Life comprises activities involving spiritual growth, service, friendliness, and hospitality to our parish members. Our focus is to follow the direction given to us in 1 Peter 4:10. "Each one of you has received a special grace; so, like good stewards responsible for all these different graces of God, put yourselves at the service of others."
Bereavement: Beth Buttimer 441-5297
Working in concert with Mrs. Linda Broderick, St.
James parish life coordinator, the Bereavement Committee offers support and
comfort upon the loss of a loved one. Based on the desires of the family,
bereavement members assist in handling various tasks associated with the
preparation of a reception either at home or at St. James, at the conclusion
of the Mass of Christian Burial.
CCW: Helen Simmons 691-0269
The Council of Catholic Women use their skills and talents to serve in a
wide variety of roles. Their main focus is on projects that provide
hospitality, material assistance, and care for others in the school, parish,
and greater Savannah community, including international support to overseas
missions and orphanages.

in our role as husbands and fathers.

New Parishioner: Marie Robinson 921-8058
The Newcomers Committee contacts newly registered
parishioners, welcomes them, and strives to answer any questions about St.
James parish. Twice each year, we welcome newcomers in a special way after
Sunday Masses to continue and expand friendships.
Pastoral Care: Setona Page 356-5147
Our parish priests along with the Pastoral Care
Committee visit parishioner who are ill or shut in and offer them
friendliness and compassion. Of major spiritual importance is the privilege
of bringing the Holy Eucharist to those who are unable to attend Mass. A
special note: if you or a loved one is hospitalized,
hospitals no longer give out patient names. It is up to a family
member to notify the rectory/office and give the information needed in order
to see the patient.
Pro-Life: Brian Kennedy 354-3065
The purpose of the Pro-Life Committee is to
encourage and activate pro-life activities among and within our parish, and
represent St. James in diocesan activities. This is done through individual
prayer, our pro-life holy hour each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., and keeping
parishioners informed of other programs and organizations such as
Birthright, Project Rachel, and Priests for Life. In Savannah, prayer vigils
are held at 120 East 34th Street each Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. Please
join in praying for unborn children.
Publicity: Stephen Agyekum 927-2385
The Publicity Committee takes pictures of new
members and casual photographs of various parish events to promote awareness
of all the activities within the parish.
Youth Ministry: Daniel & Christina Winters 335-2656
The Youth Ministry Committee offers opportunities
to participate in social, spiritual and community service activities. The
objectives are to draw young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in
today’s world, provide them with tools to make healthy decisions when
confronted with peer pressure, to encourage them to take a more active role
in the life of the parish—and do it while having fun! Our high school youth
ministry is tailored to grades 9-12, and our junior high school youth
ministry is tailored to grades 6-8.
