Anointing of the Sick
The sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is a gift from the Lord by the
power of the Holy Spirit. It is a liturgical and communal celebration
appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual
sickness. It is meant to lead the sick person to healing of the soul, and
also of the body if such is God's will. If the person is conscious of grave
sin, the sacrament of Anointing should be preceded by the sacrament of
Reconciliation.
