Sacraments

Confirmation

Confirmation classes are given to students entering the eighth grade. The sacrament is administered by Bishop of the Diocese of Savannah sometime between February and April.

In 2018, confirmation will be on March 22nd.

If anyone older than fourteen years of age has not received the sacrament of Confirmation, please contact the church office at 912-355-1523 to speak with one of our priests.

Confirmation

The sacrament of Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal gifts.

It unites us more firmly to Christ by the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit, as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. It gives us a special strength to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ.
For it had not yet fallen on any them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit. Acts 8:14-17

Confirmation

Confirmation, like Baptism, imprints a spiritual mark or indelible character on the Christian’s soul; for this reason one can receive this sacrament only once.

This special outpouring of the Holy Spirit not only completes the baptismal grace but also brings about a closer union with Christ. Through this deeper union, those confirmed share more perfectly in God’s life as His children and are more perfectly united with the entire family of God, the Church.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are increased in Confirmation and through them we receive the power to “be not afraid” so that we can spread and defend the Christian faith. [Mt 28:19; Acts 18:9; Heb 13:6].

Confirmation Preparation

Confirmation classes are given to students entering the eighth grade.

A candidate for confirmation who has attained the age of reason must profess the faith, be in the state of grace, have the intention of receiving the sacrament, and be prepared to assume the role of disciple and witness to Christ, both with the ecclesial community and in temporal affairs. [CC 1319]

The sacrament is administered by Bishop of the Diocese of Savannah sometime between February and April. If anyone older than fourteen years of age has not received the sacrament of confirmation, please contact the church office.
