St. James Catholic School is staffed by Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and by lay staff.
The core of the academic program is oral and written language arts, reading and mathematics. Religion and prayer are a way of life. They are not only taught through courses that lay the foundation, but are lived the student’s entire experience at SJCS. Knowing and living gospel principles are the building blocks upon which the student will base his or her life.
Science and social studies are emphasized in grade three through grade eight. Advanced math is offered for grades five through eight. Physical education, fine arts, technology, foreign language and library classes are integral to the weekly curriculum for all grades.
SJCS has a reputation of high level of achievement and placement as students move on to high school.
The St. James School Board is an advisory board and functions for the parish in selecting policies and approving programs that relate to achieving the educational purpose of the school. The board works hand in hand with the home & school association. Members are elected for a two year term by the parents of St. James School and/or selected by the school principal. Members of the board for 2017 – 2018 are:
St. James Home & School Association is a group of parents whose aim is to enhance the school experience of the children. Their focus includes educational support, and various family and community extracurricular activities.
