Blessed Advent (and Happy New Liturgical Year)!

Can you believe it? This Sunday after Thanksgiving is the First Sunday of Advent and a New Liturgical Year! Christmas is on a Sunday this year, so we have the longest possible Advent – 4 full weeks of preparation! These weeks are set aside for us to prepare to welcome Jesus into our homes, into our souls, into our families, into everything we do! God is coming to meet us, to dwell with us. Almighty God, the Creator of the Universe, comes to be intimately intwined with  each of us. So, we prepare. We tidy up the house of our souls. We adorn the house with deeds of virtue and thanksgiving.

We are providing a few ways for you to do this during these four weeks. We have our Breakfast with St. Nicholas, our Parish Mission, and our Penance Service.

Advent Parish Mission

Fr. Ben Dallas, priest of the Diocese of Savannah and Pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church in Columbus, GA, will give our Parish Mission this Advent on December 4 -6 in the evenings in the church! He will preach on “Be Not Afraid”. He is a dynamic speaker and will have us captivated and engaged as we deepen our faith and our discipleship of Jesus. Please come and attend each or one of the evenings!

Advent Penance Service

In the evening of December 21st, we will hold our Advent Penance Service. Priests will be available to hear confessions during this time. Our normal times for confession will remain the same throughout Advent: Monday through Friday at 7:45 – 8:15 AM; Tuesday at 5:00 – 6:00 PM; and Saturday at 3:45 – 4:45 PM. The light is on for you! Welcome to the font of the Lord’s Mercy in the Sacrament of Confession!

A Blessed Advent to you and your families!

God Bless you all!
