Letter from Fr. Firmin

My dear St. James Family,

What a Week It’s Been!

As many of you know, I had emergency surgery last Saturday after going to the ER with severe abdominal pain. The surgery revealed that I have a very rare – and treatable! – type of cancer. A one-in-a-million cancer for your one-in-a-million pastor! 😉

My doctors are working together on the next steps and I ask you to pray for them as they develop their plan of attack. This cancer is well-researched and my medical team is optimistic that the treatment will be a success. It is very encouraging! Thank you, Jesus!

I thank all of you for lifting me up with your love and your prayers – please know that you are in mine!

This time of transition with Fr. May moving to his next assignment is a difficult time for all of this to occur. So, please be nice to Fr. Peter and y’all keep taking care of each other as our St. James family should! Bishop Parkes and I are also looking at some options to make sure that Fr. Peter has assistance and that your pastoral needs are met while I am away.

If you and your family would like to do something for me, please pray a decade of the rosary or spend a few minutes visiting Our Lord Jesus in the adoration chapel or the church and ask Him to get me home to St. James soon! I miss you already!

I love you all! May the Lord continue to bless us and keep us! May He abundantly bless you and your families!
St. James the Less, Pray for us!

I am yours in the

Peace of Christ,
Fr. Daniel F. Firmin
