Mother’s Day

Christ is Risen!

He is Risen, indeed!

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day! Today we celebrate and honor our mothers who are such a gift to each of us. We set aside this day to pray for our mothers whether living or deceased. Pray also for those whose mothers have gone to the Lord this past year, that the Lord would bring them comfort and consolation in their grief.

A mother is a symbol and sign of life. Mothers sacrifice to bring us into the world and nurture and form us in body and soul. This love and witness to life is to be praised and honored!

The exact opposite is happening today in some restaurants in town. Planned Parenthood is holding a “Cookies for Choice” campaign today at local restaurants (see the list in the attached flyer). Bakers at some local restaurants, bakeries, and other businesses are selling boxes of cookies and the proceeds go to Planned Parenthood. On Mother’s day, they are raising money for an organization that brings death instead of life. Motherhood is about life. This campaign is about death. Planned Parenthood offers mothers only one choice – abortion.

On the list of restaurants there are some that I like and I patronize with some regularity. Not any more, however. I won’t boycott them only, I will seek to engage them and ask them why they participated in this campaign. I will be writing letters myself to these places and engage those I know who work there. If these businesses are truly for women’s health, we need to let them know of alternatives such as Savannah Care Center, the St. Joseph Hospital clinics, and other places that offer proper care for pregnant women. The great glory of the feminine is motherhood which is life and love. This should be celebrated and honored correctly – in all truth and beauty!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Personnel

As you may already know, the priest personnel changes have been made public. All our priests are staying here another year! Working with Father May and Father Peter in the vineyard of the Lord here at St. James, has been and is a blessing! You have this team for one more year! Please pray for us that we can be good and holy priests for you and this St. James family of faith!

May the Risen Lord Jesus abundantly pour out His blessings upon each of you and your families this Easter Season and especially on all Mothers in the parish!
