Respect Life Month

October is Respect Life month! This Sunday, October 3rd, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm we will have a Life Chain at Daffin Park along Victory Drive. Please come and pray, hold a sign, and witness to the dignity of life with so many others around the country that day and time! Next Sunday, October 10th, at 4pm at Blessed Sacrament, there will be a Rosary Coast-to-Coast prayer held for an end to abortion and other offenses against human life.

We hold fast to the beauty and dignity of every human life. We teach and preach it. Do we also model it in our lives? Do we care for the mothers who are tempted and counseled to have an abortion? Do we take them into our homes and under our care? Do we support and facilitate Are our marriages open to life by practicing Natural Family Planning or are we using contraception or have we had our tubes tied or had a vasectomy? Are we open to adopting children who are unwanted? Do we minister to the poor and needy? Do we fight for everyone’s life – even the most hardened criminal or murder – so that they are given every chance for conversion and salvation?

Respecting the dignity of life is more than just being anti-abortion, but this is the pre-eminent issue, the basis for all others. If we do not respect life and fight for the innocent child in the womb, then all else falls flat and rings hollow. Life is precious.

IMMACULÉE

This coming Saturday, October 9th, at 7:00 pm in the Church here at St. James, we will be hosting Immaculée, a world renowned speaker and a survivor of the Rwandan genocide. Each year we host a speaker during October and ask them to speak on some aspect of the dignity of human life. She will share her experience of finding God in the midst of such awful tragedy and degradation. You do not want to miss her powerful story of faith, survival, and love! Please come and bring a friend!

May the Lord bless you and your families abundantly!
