Clergy Conference

Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed!

Clergy Conference

Each year, the priests serving in the Diocese of Savannah gather the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the 2nd Week of Easter for fraternity and some continuing education. The conference rotates between the seven Deaneries: Albany, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Savannah, Statesboro, and Valdosta-Brunswick. This year Statesboro was our host! Thank you, Statesboro, for the wonderful hospitality!

Our speaker this year was Katherine Coolidge of the Catherine of Siena Institute who spoke on discipleship, vocation, and evangelization. There were some good nuggets to take away from the presentations. Time to be with the priests of the Diocese is always blessed and refreshing!

Dignitas Infinita

On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Dicastery of the Doctrine of the Faith published a Declaration on Human Dignity – Dignitas Infinita. As of the writing of this Pastor’s Corner, I have not had time to read it. You may hear a lot about this in the coming days. By my Pastor’s Corner for next weekend, I will have read it and will offer a few observations.

I will refer you to two sources who will, in my estimation, have the most accurate and insightful commentary on the text: and Do not let CNN or Fox News guide your thoughts on the declaration. Let’s go to the source text and to learned and trusted Catholic brothers and sisters to help us think correctly and with the Holy Spirit as we encounter this new declaration.

May the peace, joy, and hope of our Risen Lord Jesus be with you and your families!

~ Fr. Daniel Firmin
