Sr. Stephanie Gabriel

St. James welcomes Sr. Stephanie Gabriel as our new Director of Evangelization and Religious Education! She comes to us from teaching high school in Arlington, Virginia. A few years ago, we created this position to assist the parish to grow in our relationship with God and in our knowledge of Him. Sr. Emily Vincent was the first to have this role and she established a wonderful foundation from which to build. Sr. Stephanie Gabriel takes up the mantle and will assist me with the RCIA program, our Parish Religious Education Program, and our Adult Religious Formation Initiatives (Bible studies, parish missions, special lectures, and an assortment of other things).

Sr. Stephanie brings an abundance of energy and expertise with her and we look forward to having her with us as we build the Kingdom of God here at St. James. Our parish should be a school of Discipleship where you and I and everyone who comes through our doors learns a little more about what it means to be a Christian, a disciple of Jesus Christ. I am very excited about how Sr. Stephanie will be able to assist us with this!

Welcome Sr. Stephanie Gabriel!

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION

Monday, August 15th, is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is not a Holy Day of Obligation. However, we will still celebrate it! We celebrate that great mystery that Jesus brought His mother and ours into heaven body and soul. Since Mary was preserved from original sin and was sinless, she experienced what every human person was intended to experience at the end of life when we were created and before sin entered the world. She is our Mother and our Model, our Sister as a disciple of Jesus, her son, and our Help. Celebrate her this day with something special – a rosary with the family, a special dessert after dinner, singing or listening to a beautiful Marian hymn!

GOLF CART

An announcement: our Golf Cart which was used by our maintenance staff has died. It was used and to repair it would cost more than it is worth at this point. If anyone has a lead on a new or used golf cart, please let the office know!

May the Lord Jesus Bless you abundantly this week!
